Flattery will get you everywhere they say :) But as someone who actively tries to avoid reading fiction on this platform, I was drawn in.
I haven't read that much Eastern European literature, but I did stumble upon some translated from Slovak (we will pretend Slovakia is Eastern European for this, despite it's claims otherwise). But there is something similar in these books I've read and this. It's like dark fragments almost, I can't quite describe it. But it is unlike most novels I've read.
Which is just making we wonder, how much the literary world is trying to Americanize. I would have to think more to draw the connections here, but I liked the style like this. Maybe it was the dancing around the topic, I'm not sure. It helped I think with the context in the beginning -- hey this will be different, which helped me be a bit more open I think.
